Jules Taub

Artist: Jules Taub
  • Genres: Jazz
  • Instrument: Arranger

Biography

Jules Taub was the songwriting pseudonym of Jules Bihari, one-fourth of the Bihari Brothers, who founded the crucially important blues/R&B indie label Modern Records in 1945. The purpose of the Jules Taub name appears to have been less than on the level; the likelihood of Bihari having co-composed the many songs on which the Taub credit appears -- many by B.B. King -- seems faint at best, according to most historians. It did, however, ensure that a sizable cut of the songwriting royalties would be diverted away from the artists in question. ~ Steve Huey, All Music Guide
