Julian Fletcher Grill (born 15 May 1940, in Sydney) is a former Australian Labor Party MP in the Burke state government[1] as the Member for Eyre.[2]

He was educated at the University of Western Australia, where he graduated with a law degree. He was admitted to the Western Australian Bar in 1966. He was originally a barrister and solicitor with speciality in mining and resources.[3]

Grill was elected as the Member for Electoral district of Yilgarn-Dundas in the state's Upper House in 1977. Due to redistributions the seat changed a number of times, eventually becoming the Electoral district of Eyre. He was re-elected in 1981, 1983, 1986, 1989, 1993 and 1996. Grill did not contest the February 2001 general election. He moved the front bench in 1983, holding ministerial positions until 1990 including the senior portfolios of Transport, The North West, Regional Development and Economic Development, Trade and Tourism.[3]

He was expelled from the Western Australian Labor Party in June 2005 for making a $5000 donation to the National Party of Australia in the leadup to the 2005 Western Australian state election.[4]

He was ordered to apologise to the Western Australian Legislative Assembly on 15 August 2007 after being found to be in contempt of parliament.[5] He was found by the Corruption and Crime Commission to have forwarded a confidential parliamentary report into the Windimurra vanadium mine operated by Precious Metals Australia.[1][6]
