Julius Ogunro (born July 8, 1976) is a Nigerian journalist.
Biography
Ogunro was born the 18th in a family of 22 children. He graduated best of his faculty with a second class upper degree in Mass Communication from the Delta State University, Abraka, Nigeria in 2001. He was a recipient of both the HOD'S and Dean's Prizes for best graduating student.
He did his compulsory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Kebbi State, Nigeria, where he was the editor of the corps magazine, Kebbi Kopa. After the NYSC, he worked with Insider Weekly Magazine for over two years and won one of one of the most prestigious prizes in Nigerian journalism - The Best Environmental Reporter at the 2005 Diamond Awards for Media Excellence, DAME.[1] <ref"DAME Awards". http://www.dameawards.com/dameawards/damewinners14editn.htm.</ref> He has also won the Red Ribbon Prize (Best Feature Print) for his story Two Weeks with the Virus. Ogunro completed a master's degree in Mass Communication at the University of Lagos in 2006, and has moved to National Standard, where he is now the editor.[2]
Ogunro's favourite meal is eba and egusi soup, while his interests include reading, writing and football.
