K

k

(Metric) As a lower-case prefix, k-, see kilo-, e.g. kg = kilogram.

(Metric) Until 1960, as an upper-case prefix, K, see kilo-.

temperature (Metric) As K, see kelvin, a reference to thermodynamic temperature. Note that, though previously written as °K (K as a symbol for scale rather than unit), the prefixed symbol for and the term degree were abolished under the SI in 1968. Can be prefixed variously, when representing a difference between two points on the scale, as in kK = kilokelvin; see SI alphabet.

electromagnetics (Metric) Sometimes used without the alien Ω to represent kΩ, i.e. kilohm. A deprecated practice.

thermodynamics As k, see Boltzmann constant; more distinctively kB.

astronomy As k, see Gaussian gravitational constant.

See kilo-.
