Kärkölä is a municipality of Finland. Its seat is in Järvelä.

It is located in the province of Southern Finland and is part of the Päijänne Tavastia region. The municipality has a population of 4,916 (30 June 2009)[2] and covers an area of 259.34 square kilometres (100.13 sq mi) of which 2.84 km2 (1.10 sq mi) is water.[1] The population density is 19.17 inhabitants per square kilometre (49.7 /sq mi).

The municipality is unilingually Finnish.
