K99 antigen

 

Pilus antigen of enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli of calves and piglets, responsible for adhesion of the bacterium to intestinal cells, which is essential for them to be pathogenic. Vaccines based on purified K99 antigen produced by recombinant DNA technology are used for the control of the disease. Called also F5.
