Kafr el-Sheikh Governorate (Arabic: كفر الشيخ) is one of the governorates of Egypt. It lies in the north of the country along the western branch of the Nile. Its capital is the city of Kafr el-Sheikh.

History
It was once part of the Gharbia Governorate.
Geography
There is a lake called Buhayrat al-Burullus (Lake Burullus) in the north.
It comprises ten cities:
- Kafr el-Sheikh
- Desouk
- Beila
- Kellien
- Metobas
- Al Riad
- Foah
- Balteem
- Saiedy
- Al Hamool
- ((sidi salem))
Economy
Industries include cotton-processing factories, rice and fishing.
Education
Kafr el-Sheikh has a number of colleges. Kafr el-Sheikh now has an independent university which include these faculties:- Faculty of Commerce - Faculty of Engineering - Faculty of Agriculture - Faculty of Vetrenary - Faculty of Arts
