Kafr el-Sheikh Governorate (Arabic: كفر الشيخ‎) is one of the governorates of Egypt. It lies in the north of the country along the western branch of the Nile. Its capital is the city of Kafr el-Sheikh.

It was once part of the Gharbia Governorate.

Geography

There is a lake called Buhayrat al-Burullus (Lake Burullus) in the north.

It comprises ten cities:

Economy

Industries include cotton-processing factories, rice and fishing.

Education

Kafr el-Sheikh has a number of colleges. Kafr el-Sheikh now has an independent university which include these faculties:- Faculty of Commerce - Faculty of Engineering - Faculty of Agriculture - Faculty of Vetrenary - Faculty of Arts
