Kalliasbriefe, title usually given to an extended essay on aesthetics sent by Schiller to his friend C. G. Körner in four letters dated 8, 18, 23, and 28 February 1793. In an earlier letter (21 December 1792) Schiller had mentioned his intention of writing a dialogue entitled Kallias, oder über die Schönheit. Though this plan was never carried out, the February letters give the gist of the projected treatise. Schiller asserts that objectivity (‘reine Objektivität’) is the characteristic of great art.
