Kamboja

One of the sixteen mahājanapadas or north Indian states that existed at the time of the Buddha. According to Aśoka's Rock Edict No. XIII, Kamboja was among the countries visited by Aśoka's missionaries and later identified with an area on the banks of the Kabul river. However, in later literature Kamboja is the name given to the western region of Thailand.
