Kamikaze recipe at International Bartenders Association

The Kamikaze is made of equal parts Vodka, Triple Sec and lime juice. It can be served strained into a highball glass (or shot glasses) or on the rocks in a lowball glass. Garnish is typically a wedge or twist of lime.

As taught in bartending school the memory cue for the contents of this drink is "Very Tragic Suicidal Landings".

Naming

The drink's name is definitely Japanese in origin, written 神風.

The drink is rumored to have originated in Japan during the American occupation at a bar on Yokosuka base near Tokyo.[citation needed]

Variations

One popular[citation needed] variation on this drink is the Southern Comfort Kamikaze or "SoCo" Kamikaze, which is made using Southern Comfort liqueur in place of vodka.

Dozens of variations exist in online databases today[1].
