Plot

Famed actresses Leela Chitnis makes her feature debut in this melodrama directed by Franz Osten. Village beauty Radha (Chitnis) and Kamal (Ashok Kumar), the son of the local landlord who dreams of being a great poet, are in love. Soon after Kamal ventures to the big city to gain a name for himself as a novelist and a playwright, his father, along with his assistant, torment and abuse her. Ultimately, she stages her own suicide and then flees to the city where she can be with her true love. When she arrives at his house though, she hears him professing his love to another.
