If Dorothy lived in rural Kansas today, she'd probably hear that tornado warning and reach safety, thanks to the power supplied by Kansas Electric Power Cooperative (KEPCo). KEPCo operates power plants and purchases additional energy for its 19 member distribution cooperatives, which serve more than 100,000 rural customers. The generation and transmission utility's assets include a 6% stake in Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corporation, which operates Kansas' Wolf Creek Generating Station. Subsidiary KSI Engineering provides utility construction and infrastructure services. KEPCo, which was formed in 1975, is part of the alliance of Touchstone Energy Cooperatives.
