Kara Patria David (popularly known as Kara David) is an award-winning Filipino reporter and documentary host who was named The Outstanding Young Men (TOYM) in 2007 and UNICEF Child Rights Awardee. She is a regular reporter of Good Morning America (GMA) 7’s 24 Oras, and Saksi and is currently hosting I-Witness and OFW Diaries.[1]

Biography and Career
David is the daughter of University of the Philippines professor/TV host/columnist Randy and Karina Anne David, who was a former Civil Service Commissioner.[2]
David finished Mass Communications at the University of the Philippines-Diliman. Her official website [3]said that she took Masscom not thinking she would become popular in writing and reporting, but to help other people through the mass media.
After graduation, David worked as a production assistant and researcher on GMA 7 in 1996. She was promoted as writer for Brigada Siete, the GMA 7’s public program. In 2001, she was promoted as reporter for GMA 7’s 24 Oras and Saksi. She was also asked to host the network’s program, 100% Pinoy, a weekly magazine program that showcases Filipino arts and culture, and Flash Report Special Edition and Case Unclosed now hosted by Arnold Clavio. She is currently hosting I-Witness, the first ever full-length documentary program in the country, what has been dubbed as “Philippine Television’s Finest Hour and Case Unclosed".
She was also named The Outstanding Young Men (TOYM) in 2007[4].The TOYM award is recognized as one of the country's most prestigious recognition for young men and women whose selfless dedication to their field resulted in significant contributions to the country and the Filipinos.
David was the honored guest on the selection of the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Ten Outstanding Chairmen year 2[5] on Nov. 29, 2008 at the Metro Centre Hotel.
David and her team received the UNICEF (United Nations Children's Fund) Child Rights Award. The winning episode was Selda Inosente (Angels of Prison), David's documentary on the plight of children born and living in Philippine prisons. It bested 37 other entries by ten broadcasters from ten countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
The Best of Kara David
GMA 7 has released a compilation of David’s best documentaries on I-Witness. The I-Witness (The Best Of Kara David)[6] is in cd/dvd format which include her reports:
- "Buto't Balat" - Heartbreaking tales of malnourished children show us why Philippines could be the new Africa.
- "Uuwi Na Si Udong" - Boys work in sugarcane fields an ocean away from home to pay for their families' piling debts. Finalist 2007 New York Festivals.
- "Mga Anghel Sa Dapithapon" - Rachel is nine and Maureen is 14, but already, their bodies are the physical age of their grandmothers.
- "Sa Mata Ni Ekang" - With a thief for a father, a drug dealer for a mother, and a pimp for a grandmother, how will the world look like in the eyes of four-year old? Silver Screen Award, 2007 US International Film and Video Festival.
- "Gamu-gamo Sa Dilim" - Schoolchildren struggle to give light to their future despite the darkness that surrounds them. Finalist for Best Public Affairs Program, 2002 Catholic Mass Media Awards. Best Aired Featured Story on Youth and Education, 2003 La Sallian Scholarum Awards.
