Biography

Karen Ashbrook, a virtuoso of the hammered dulcimer and flute, gained experience by playing on the streets of Europe, Asia and the Middle East. She moved to Washington, D.C. in 1983, and joined the chamber folk trio Ceoltoiri, which released Silver Apples of the Moon and Celtic Lace. Ashbrook, also a member of the Jewish ensemble King David's Harp, signed with Maggie's Music for a solo career and released Knock on the Door and Hills of Erin. She has also written a book, Playing the Hammered Dulcimer in the Irish Tradition. ~ John Bush, All Music Guide
