Kario Salem is an American actor and screenwriter who has many film credits from 1975 to 2001.He appeared as Marcel (Mike) Pasquinel in the 1978-1979 miniseries Centennial. His best-known film appearance was as the spirit of a dead soldier in a 1982 episode of M*A*S*H. In 1997, he earned an Emmy Award as a writer for the television special Don King: Only in America.

Mr. Salem won an Emmy for writing Don King Only In America for HBO, as well a PEN nomination. The film also won the Broadcast Film Critics Award and Peabody Award for Best Television Film of the year. He received a 2nd Emmy nomination the following year for writing The Rat Pack, in addition to a 2nd PEN nomination. He was the last but uncredited writer on the original Fast & the Furious and The Rundown. Percentage contributions were highly significant to both scripts. Has been incorrectly listed as a participating writer on Mindhunters. Though Mr. Salem briefly worked on an earlier script, he was not involved in the final product in any way. Salem did two rewrites of Blue Crush to help it into production but his percentage contribution to the film was extremely minor. He just completed "Mavericks" for Walden Media, as well as a dark, half hour comedy co-created with actor Jim Carrey, called "Is This Thing On?". As an actor, Mr. Salem performed in theater, TV, and film. He won a Drama Log award for his performance in Richard Greenberg's "The Extra Man" at South Coast Repertory Theater, as well as a Boston Critic's award for his performance as Cousins in Shaw's Major Barbara with Cherry Jones at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge. Mr. Salem also co-starred on Broadway as Scoop in the Heidi Chronicles with Mary McDonnel. He appeared in over 80 guest starring roles on TV, including the role of Mike Pasquinal in Centennial, and the ghost of a dead soldier in an Emmy Award winning episode of M*A*S*H, written and directed by Alan Alda. Some of his film roles included the role of Jocko in "Triumph Of The Spirit", the bleach blonde French gangster who teaches Eric Stolz how to smoke heroin in Roger Avary's Killing Zoe, and the role of The Grand Inquistor in Ridley's Scott's 1492. Mr. Salem is also a composer and partner in the music company, Matter Music, best known for its soundtracks for the films Riding Giants and Wedding Crashers amongst others.
