Karl Johann Philipp Spitta

Spitta, Karl Johann Philipp (Hanover, 1801-59, Burgdorf), pastor in various Hanoverian parishes, then moderator (Superintendent) in Wittingen, Peine, and Burgdorf, published an early collection of verse (Sangbüchlein der Liebe für Handwerksburschen, 1823), followed later by two volumes of hymns (Psalter und Harfe, 1833-43). Two posthumous publications were Nachgelassene geistliche Lieder (1861) and Lieder aus der Jugendzeit (1898).
