Kashi GoLean

The Kashi GoLean program consists of a variety of high-fiber, low-fat cereals, bars and shakes that help curb hunger and protect muscle mass while aiding weight loss. The supplemental bars, cereals and shakes are meant to be eaten instead of breakfast and lunch each day, along with a nutritious dinner. The Kashi products provide approximately 700 calories with nearly 100 percent of your daily protein and fiber needs and less than 15 percent of the daily fat recommendations. The company also provides lots of useful nutrition and weight loss information in their brochures and on their Website.
The Kashi company began in 1983 with a single product, "Kashi, Seven Whole Grains and Sesame Breakfast Pilaf." The name chosen for the company, "Kashi," is a synthesis of "kashruth" or kosher and "Kushi" the last name of the founders of Macrobiotics (a whole foods way of eating/living).They later learned that in Russian, the name means porridge. In Hebrew, the word "kashruth" signifies simple or pure food. In Japanese, Kashi implies energy food; and in Chinese, happy food.
