Biography

Katy Rose grew up quick in Los Angeles, the daughter of session keyboardist Kim Bullard and a backup singer mother. She began to write songs in her early teens, blending traditional adolescent angst over boys and social drama with a fashionably jaded cynicism perfect for the youth-skewed climate of 21st century pop culture. The 16-year-old Rose debuted in early 2004 with Because I Can (V2), an ambitious record that drew freely and cleverly from elements as disparate as radio-ready light alternative and new garage grit. ~ Johnny Loftus, Rovi

Katy Rose (born January 27, 1987, real name Kathryn Rosemary Bullard) is an American singer, songwriter, producer, musician and actress. Her music styles vary from indie rock, electro pop, grunge, pop, lounge music and techno.

Starting at age sixteen, Katy Rose began work on her debut album, Because I Can for V2 Records, which was released on January 27, 2004, along with "Overdrive", her first single from the album. The single "I Like" also appeared on Because I Can. In addition, Rose sang on two movie soundtracks, Mean Girls and Thirteen.

After parting from V2 Records in 2005, her band project, Candy Eyed (a collection of song demos done with Beck's musical director Greg Kurstin), was released by independent record label River Jones Music. In late 2007, Katy parted ways with River Jones Music.[1]
