The sons of the king Dhritarashtra and one the two rival houses in the Mahabharata. They are ultimately annihilated in the feud with their cousins the Pandavas.
The Kauravas are the one hundred sons of the blind DhṛtarāṣṠra who challenge their cousins the Pāṇḍavas (see Pāṇḍavas) for control of the Bharata kingdom in the Mahābhārata (see Mahābhārata). Their leader is the jealous Duryodhana who in his immoral actions takes on his father's blindness in the form of spiritual blindness opposed to moral duty or dharma (see Dharma).
