A series of lakes in southeast Ontario, Canada, connected with Lake Simcoe by the Trent Canal system. The lakes are popular as a summer resort area.

Kawartha Lakes (kəwôr'thə), group of 14 lakes, in a region c.50 mi (80 km) long and c.25 mi (40 km) wide, S Ont., Canada, near the towns of Lindsay and Peterborough. Balsam is the largest lake. They are popular as summer resorts. Many of the lakes form part of the Trent Canal system.
