Kaylee is a female given name formed through the combination of the names Kay and Lee. Kay is an English short form of the name Katherine or Kathleen, while Lee means "pasture" in English[citation needed]. Alternately it is sometimes considered as an Anglicized version of the Irish Gaelic céilidh, a type of social dance or party in Ireland and Scotland. It's not that popular to spell the name Kaylee like K,A,Y,L,E,E.
With the spelling Kaylee, the name was ranked as the 36th most popular name for girls born in the United States in 2007.[1]
Possibly (Gaelic) "slender". Variant of Kayla with the popular -ley ending, much favored in spelling variants. May also be considered a combination of Kay with Lee. See also Cayla and Kaylin.
It may refer to:
- Kaylee DeFer (b. 1986), American actress
- Kaylee Frye, a character from the television series Firefly (2002-2003) and the movie Serenity (2005)
