In computing, a WAR file (short for Web ARchive) can refer to a tarball (tar.gz file) which contains static Web pages (HTML and related files), so that a web page can be viewed offline as if one were on the original web page.
At this moment only Konqueror supports this format, although on most systems it can also be easily unpacked to be used with other browsers.
Alternatives and conversion
- MHTML, supported by Internet Explorer, Opera, ACCESS NetFront, and Mozilla Firefox with an extension. It may take more space because of the MIME encoding.
- kmhtConvert is a utility to convert MHTML files into the KDE WAR format.[1]
