Plot

This four-part cable series celebrated the artists who were taking traditional American music in new and exciting directions in the early 21st century. Among the featured artists were Gillian Welch (of O Brother, Where Art Thou? fame), Ralph Stanley, the Black Keys, Joe Firstman, Cory Branan, Shemekia Copeland, T-Model Ford, Robert Randolph, Nickel Creek, Toshi Reagon, and Richard Julian. Individual episode titles included "Pickin' My Religion," "Accoustic Innovators," "Buy This Record," and "The Art of Song."
