A six-time Oscar and multiple Emmy nominee who snared a statuette for his work on the 1985 made-for-television feature An Early Frost, sound engineer Keith Wester's innovation in sound recording resulted in stunning audio achievements in such memorable films as The Perfect Storm (2000) and Armageddon (1998). Born in Seattle in 1940, Wester began his love affair with audio technology as an amateur ham-radio operator at age 13. Later receiving his bachelor's degree from Cal State L.A. and his master's degree from U.C.L.A., the creative soundman worked prominently in television commercials before turning to feature work in the early '70s.
