Kenji Yamamoto (山本 健誌 Yamamoto Kenji) is a Japanese video game musician working for Nintendo. He was born on April 25, 1964. It was recently explained that he plays a role as a music director at Nintendo, overseeing the audio for several Nintendo games. He is credited with creating the soundtracks of the following games:
- Advance Wars: Dual Strike (with Yoshito Hirano)
- Excite Truck (with Masaru Tajima)
- Famicom Tantei Club: Kieta Kōkeisha
- Famicom Tantei Club Part II: Ushiro ni Tatsu Shōjo
- Galactic Pinball
- Famicom Bunko: Hajimari no Mori
- Mario Kart: Super Circuit (sound support)
- Metroid Fusion (as sound designer)
- Metroid Prime
- Metroid Prime Hunters (as sound supervisor)
- Metroid Prime 2: Echoes
- Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (with Minako Hamano and Masaru Tajima)
- Metroid: Zero Mission (with Minako Hamano)
- Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!
- Sakura Momoko no Ukiuki Carnival (sound support)
- Super Metroid (with Minako Hamano)
Kenji Yamamoto contributed with other video game composers for Super Smash Bros. Brawl.[1]
In a recent interview with Music4Games, Yamamoto detailed his experience working on the Metroid Prime trilogy. He described his thoughts on the inclusion of themes from Super Metroid as well as his composition process and sources of inspiration. He intends to continue working on the Metroid series into the future.
