Founded in 1890 and located on the shores of Keuka Lake in New York State’s
Finger Lakes region, Keuka College is an independent, four-year, residential, coeducational
college that places emphasis on career and pre-professional education.
Keuka is accredited by the Middle States Association of
Colleges and Secondary Schools. The College offers degree programs in the People's Republic of China where more than 3,000
Chinese students are pursuing Keuka degrees.

Academics
Keuka College places emphasis on experiential education. At the heart of this commitment is Field Period, where students spend
140 hours per year in a self-directed learning experience. In addition to meeting the needs of traditional students, Keuka's
Accelerated Studies for Adults Program (ASAP) offers bachelor's degree completion and master's degree programs at locales around
the state.
Keuka offers 33 bachelor’s degree programs, 20 minors; double majors; and self-designed majors. Keuka offers master’s degree
programs in childhood education, occupational therapy, management, and criminal justice administration as well as
pre-professional programs in dentistry, law, medicine, and veterinary medicine.

Adult Education
The Keuka College Accelerated Studies for Adults (ASAP) program offers degree completion and master’s programs for adult
learners. Bachelor’s degrees can be earned in organizational management, criminal justice, nursing for RNs, and social work.
Master’s degrees are available in criminal justice administration and management. Keuka also offers a certificate in gerontology,
a 24-credit program that follows the guidelines of the Association for Gerontology in Higher Education and is registered with the
New York State Department of Education. The Keuka ASAP program is designed to meet the needs of working adults and parents –
classes are held one evening a week at satellite locations throughout Central and Western New York.

History
Overview
Founder: George Harvey Ball
Year: 1890
George Harvey Ball envisioned a college that would provide a high-level education to all deserving students, regardless of
economic background. As a brochure produced in 1891 attested: Keuka College was “pre-eminently, for the common people…With ample
endowment,” the brochure continued, “it will raise an army of country people from comparative ignorance and consequent weakness
to superior men and women who shall bring strength to the nation and help to humanity.”
Financial troubles forced the College to close in 1915, and it was re-opened in 1921 as Keuka College for Women. Keuka
remained a single-sex institution until 1985, when financial troubles caused by declining enrollment (from 536 total students in
1979 to 407 students in 1984) again forced the issue and the Board of Trustees voted to admit men.
In 1942, Edith Estey, a 1933 Keuka graduate and administrator, created the Field Period program, which remains a major
component of a Keuka College education. Through Field Period, each Keuka student is required to spend 140 hours per year (or
approximately one month) in a self-directed learning experience. This can involve a work internship, a community service project, spiritual exploration,
personal development (such as an Outward Bound experience), cross-cultural diversity
exploration, or a group cultural experience to another city or country.

Residence Halls
Approximately 69 percent of students live on campus. All halls offer common study areas, pantries, TV lounges, phone and cable
connections, and Internet access. Laundry is included with room & board.
• Saunders Hall – single sex hall available to all Keuka women. Also has a substance –free floor.
• Space Hall - co-ed by floor.
• Davis Hall - co-ed by floor. Freshmen only
• Harrington Hall – available to upperclass students and transfers. This residence hall places emphasis on leadership and
cooperative living. The rooms are suite-style and there is an additional $300 charge per year.
• Ball Hall – the oldest building on campus, it is available only to upperclass and transfer students.
• Blyley Hall – two floors, one for women. Typically attracts upperclass student athletes.
Athletics
Keuka College is a member of the NCAA (Division III) ECAC and North Eastern Athletic
Conference (NEAC). The College fields 15 intercollegiate teams. The synchronized
swimming team is ranked No. 5 in the country behind Stanford,
Ohio State, Incarnate Word, and Alabama-Birmingham.
