Plot
Key is the robot daughter of a kindly old man named Murao Mima, who'd planned to raise and love her. Unfortunately, when he dies suddenly, Key is left on her own to learn how to live, make friends, and even smile. Murao left behind strange messages, though, and after studying them, Key thinks she has found instructions on how she can become human. All she'll need is to somehow gain 30,000 friends. Key the Metal Idol is a meditative series about the trappings of human life and friendship, the nature of spirituality, and the alienating worlds of technology and fame. ~ Cammila Albertson, All Movie Guide
