Biography

Like most of her Pussycat Doll sisters, Kimberly Wyatt got into dancing and singing from a young age. She was born on February 4, 1982, in Warrensburg, MO, a small town near Kansas City. Wyatt landed her first job performing in a revue onboard a Royal Caribbean cruise ship. She eventually settled into Los Angeles digs to pursue a dance career in the early 2000s, subsequently meeting choreographer Robin Antin during a video shoot for pop singer Nick Lachey. Antin was in the process of reconfiguring the L.A. burlesque act the Pussycat Dolls into a pop/R&B group; Wyatt impressed Antin enough that she was soon a member of the group. The Pussycat Dolls' 2005 debut album, PCD, went on to sell multi-platinum figures. ~ Corey Apar, All Music Guide

Early life

Wyatt was born in Warrensburg, Missouri, a university town near Kansas City.[1] Her father is a trucker and her mother travels with him. Before dancing, she attempted Tee-Ball, basketball and Brownies,[citation needed] which ended unsuccessfully. Wyatt began dancing at the age of seven.[2] When she was fourteen, she earned a scholarship to study in New York's Joffrey Ballet[1] and the Broadway Dance Center. At the age of seventeen, she graduated from high school and flew to Las Vegas to audition for cruise ship and casino shows. She worked in a revue on Royal Caribbean's Explorer of the Seas,[1][3] and visited most of Southern Europe.

Career

Pussycat Dolls

She moved to Los Angeles in 2001 to pursue her dance career,[1] despite an offer from the Hubbard St. Dance Coompany in Chicago. In 2002, Wyatt became one of the dancers on the comedy sketch show, Cedric the Entertainer Presents.

In 2003, Wyatt participated in the Black Eyed Peas' video "Shut Up" along side fellow Pussycat Doll Carmit Bachar, and was the choreographer and dancer for a music video for Nick Lachey's solo album. During the video shoot, choreographer Robin Antin, founder of the Pussycat Dolls, asked Wyatt to join the group.[4] Like her fellow members, she is a salaried employee of Interscope Records. She is best known with her dance sign, standing oversplit, which is shown in most of Pussycat Dolls music video. She stated herself in Loose Women that it is her trademark move, as she said that "her leg has become a celebrity in its own rights." [5] Beginning in January 2010 Wyatt will appear alongside Ashley Banjo and Adam Garcia as judges on the reality show Got To Dance.[6]

Wyatt's first major vocal role in the Pussycat Dolls came when she recorded a solo song called "Don't Wanna Fall in Love" for the Deluxe Edition of their second album, Doll Domination.

Other Projects

Kimberly is one of three judges of Sky 1's dance show, Got To Dance. Got To Dance will be on Sky 1 in January 2010. The other judges are Ashley Banjo, choreographer and dancer in Britain's Got Talent winning act Diversity and Actor and West End star, Adam Garcia. The show is presented by Davina McCall.

Kimberly is currently working on a solo album.

Personal life

Wyatt resides in Los Angeles, California. Wyatt is very active in charity work, and is a big supporter and contributor to RAINN.[7] Wyatt started a blog called Beautiful Movements on the website Dipdive. Her site allows users to express their emotional feelings.
