Biography

With a hook-laden sound that has been described as "Journey meets Toto", Kings Karma has brought westernized progressive and pop rock to Germany. In the five years that they've been together, Kings Karma has evolved into one of Germany's top bands. According to German rock magazine, Empire, the four piece band is quickly becoming known for its "strong melodies, ingenious refrain, good vocals and first class production qualities." Initially known as King Size, Kings Karma was launched by former members of progressive-rock trio, Vaudeville -- Dierk von Tesmar on bass, acoustic guitar and vocals and Joschi Hansel on lead vocals and percussion. Von Tesmer (born in Mannheim on November 27, 1970) had been performing with Vaudeville since 1991. Hensel (born in Dusseldorf on November 20, 1969) had began his musical career as a Peter Criss-influenced drummer. The lead singer of Vaudeville since 1990, he had left the band in 1994 to join a Kansas tribute band, Portrait. Kings Karma formally came together in February 1995 when guitarist/vocalist Norbert Arndt and ex-keyboardist Marco Schilling were added. Arndt (born in Nuremberg in 1969) had made his musical debut as a member of Blind Alley in 1984. Original drummer Udo Biller was replaced by Volker Schulein (born: in Nuremberg on November 4, 1972), a former member of Dead End, Fly Flaps and Heat, in February 1999. ~ Craig Harris, All Music Guide
