Kingston is the capital of the Australian South Pacific Territory of Norfolk Island. Sights in Kingston include its cemetery, the ruins of the houses of military officers at Quality Row, Government House, the historical All Saints Church, The Old and New Military Barracks which now house the Administration of Norfolk Island and the Chambers of the Legislative Assembly.

The settlement marks the landing point of Lieutenant Philip Gidley King and 22 settlers (including 9 male and 6 female convicts) on the 6 March 1788, less than 2 months after the establishment of the British colony of New South Wales.

Old Jail

The city is little more than an administrative hub and historical centre although it plays a vital role in the islands culture; the de facto capital is Burnt Pine.
