[KEER] White wine that is flavored with a soupçon of cassis, usually served as an apéritif. When made with champagne, it's referred to as a kir royale.

1. a Moabite city mentioned in Isaiah's prophecy against Moab (Is 15:1). May be identical with Kir Hareseth.

2. Place in Mesopotamia from which the Arameans came to Syria (Amos 9:7). As Amos had prophesied (Amos 1:5), the Arameans returned to Kir as exiles after Tiglath-Pileser III invaded the Aramean capital Damascus "and took its people captive to Kir" (II Kgs 16:9).
