Kopete is a multi-protocol, free software instant messaging client. Although it can run in numerous environments, it was designed for and integrates with the KDE desktop environment. The name Kopete comes from the Chilean word "copete", a word referring to alcoholic drinks.[1] Kopete was started because ICQ blocked Licq from their network in 2001 [2]. Kopete has been nominated for multiple awards[3][4].
