Kouilou is one of the ten regional administrative divisions of the Republic of the Congo. Covering the country's coastline, it has an area of 13,694 square kilometres (including the commune of Pointe-Noire) and at the start of 2007 it was home to about 806,670 people (of whom 724,527 lived in Pointe-Noire). The region borders Niari Region, and internationally, Gabon and the Cabinda area of Angola. The regional capital is Pointe-Noire. Principal cities and towns include Madingo-Kayes and Mvouti.
Kouilou is also the name of a river, the Kouilou-Niari River.
