Kreisauer Kreis, a group of dissident Germans formed on the initiative of Graf Helmut James von Moltke, from whose estate (acquired in 1866 by Field-Marshal Graf Helmuth von Moltke) it received its name. Adam von Trott zu Solz (1909-44) and Father A. Delp, S. J. (1907-45) were among the members of the circle, which was Christian in basis and more concerned with planning a new liberalized Germany than with conspiracy to liquidate the National Socialist hierarchy. Its members were arrested and executed during the radical persecution of the resistance (see Resistance Movements, 2).
