Based on the novel by Max Pemberton, Gaumont's three-reel "feature" Kronstadt was adapted for the screen by Pemberton himself. Orphaned early in the picture, the heroine does everything she can to prevent her younger brother from being taken away by the authorities. She finally resorts to working as a Russian spy, and in this capacity attempts to steal a packet of secret papers from a handsome young officer. Caught in the act, she is sentenced to a penal colony, while the officer is ordered to transport her to her new "home." En route, the girl and the officer fall in love, whereupon he aids in her escape. Later on, she returns the favor by rescuing the officer from a Russian firing squad. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
