History
Name after a temple dedicated to Lord Kumaraswamy in the area, Kumaraswamy Layout was formed during the late 1970's to early 1980's by the BDA. This area even though under BBMP until recently had not seen much development. The area was notorious for bad and narrow roads, poor drainage, badly maintained parks and crime. In recent times however there has been some development.

- 15F from K.R. Market
- 13A, 13C and 210G from Shivajinagar
Kumaraswamy Layout has 2 bus stands, one is in 1st stage and the other is in 2nd stage.
Driving Directions
- From Majestic, come via Cottonpet, Chamarajpet, Basavanagudi, Jayanagar 7th block, Karisandra and reach Kumaraswamy Layout.
- From HAL Airport, come via Intermediate Ring Road, Koramangala, Madivala, BTM Layout, Jayanagar, Banashankari and reach Kumaraswamy Layout.
- From BIAL, come via NH7,Yelahanka Air Force Station, Hebbal, Yeshwanthapur, Rajajinagar, Vijayanagar, Attiguppe, Girinagar, Banashankari 3rd stage, Padmanabhanagar and reach Kumaraswamy Layout.

Areas under Kumaraswamy Layout
- ISRO Layout- It is a planned residential area formed in the mid 1980's by ISRO for their employees. The area is managed by Space Employees Cooperative Housing Society. Here people themselves are involved in area development. It is one of the most well maintained areas in Bangalore[1]. This area is also known as Vikram Nagar, after the Indian space scientist, Vikram Sarabhai.
- Vasantapura- It is a village near Subramanyapura. A famous temple, the Sri Vasantha Vallabharaya Swamy Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, is located on a hillock here[2]. There is also a ISCKON temple on another hillock nearby.
- Ilyas Nagar- A Muslim majority area, this area houses the famous Jamia Masjid and the Army Salvation Church.
- Yalachenahalli- A very fast developing area in Bangalore.
- Bikasipura- Industrial Area. Houses Khoday's Breweries and Metro.
