Still fumbling with 1970's cockpit avionics? L-3 Communications Integrated Systems (L-3/IS) -- formerly Raytheon Aircraft Integration Systems -- a division of L-3 Communications, can install more sophisticated electronics and slap on racing stripes to boot. L-3/IS makes advanced avionics systems and provides maintenance and repair services for existing aircraft. It also makes special mission electronic warfare and intelligence-gathering systems (spy stuff) for military and government aircraft. Maintenance services include complete overhauls, modifications, and painting and custom design jobs for business, commercial, and military aircraft. L-3 Communications paid about $1.13 billion for the division in 2002.
