L-carnitine

 

An isomer of carnitine. Reportedly, the L-carnitine isomer is the preferred form for transport of fatty acids into heart muscle cells. In the body, acetyl L-carnitine is made from L-carnitine by an enzyme called carnitine acetyltransferase.
