(1874–1959)
French architect and town-planner who won the competition to design the infrastructure plan for Antwerp, Belgium (1910), in which he exploited the canal encircling the old city to make a connection with the engineering complex of Berchem. He also prepared plans for Casablanca, Fez, Marrakesh, Meknès, and Rabat, all in Morocco (1913–17), and for the Paris Regional Plan (1928–39) and Istanbul Master Plan (1936–58).
