Azotea, La (‘the winnowing ground’), the first women's photography publishing house in Argentina. Established in 1973 by three photographers—Sara Facio (b. 1932), Alicia D'Amico (b. 1933), and Maria Cristina Orive—it published not only their work and that of other women, but also that of important contemporary (and frequently censored) authors such as Miguel Ángel Asturias, Bioy Casares, Cabrera Infante, Alejo Carpentier, Julio Cortazar, Octavio Paz, Juan Rulfo, Ernesto Sabato, and Vargas Llosa.
