La Guirlande de Julie

French Literature Companion: La Guirlande de Julie

Guirlande de Julie, La. Collection of short poems written by the habitués of the Hôtel de Rambouillet in honour of the marquise's daughter, Julie d'Angennes, to whom the elegantly calligraphed book was presented on New Year's Day, 1634. It is often taken as a symbol of literary preciosity.
