Plot

Director Eduardo Maldonado looks at the industrialization of Mexico in this documentary on the changes to the rural farm workers and their environment when the petroleum industry and its satellite businesses take over both the landscape and the means of economic livelihood. As the peasants leave the land and head into lower-paying jobs in the blue collar or service sector, the ecological systems that were untouched by artificial pollutants throughout the history of our planet face a degradation that parallels that of the new workers. Pemex, the Mexican government's petroleum industry, bears the brunt of the problem of reformation. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide
