La Lumière

Lumière, La. Weekly journal founded by the Société Héliographique in 1851. Edited by Ernest Lacan, the first issue appeared 9 February 1851, and it continued through the disappearance of the Société Héliographique and the founding of the Sociéte Française de Photographie, appearing every Saturday until 1867. It contained articles charting the development of photographic art, science, and industry in both France and Europe as a whole. Reprints of primary material relating to the invention of photography, reports on the Mission Héliographique, and a lively correspondence section have made this a valuable resource for the history of photography.
