Biography

A Martiniquan band led by drummer, singer, and songwriter Jean-Michel Cabrimol, and one of a handful, including Diapason, Filpak, and Nouvelle Galaxie, that specializes in playing a Martiniquan version of classic Haitian mini-jazz. La Maafia's albums are typically a balance of uptempo dance numbers and slow ballads graced by flute. It's certainly not formula zouk but very popular, nonetheless, because of the long-time Antillean love of Haitian music. ~ Gene Scaramuzzo, All Music Guide
