Lake Acworth is a 90-acre or 36-hectare [1] lake located southwest of the city of Acworth, Georgia. It is located in the extreme northwestern part of Cobb County. The lake impounds Proctor Creek (not the same as Proctor Creek in nearby Atlanta), and outflows into Lake Allatoona.[2]
The city of Acworth operates Acworth Beach, a public beach and park along the northern shore of the lake. It was created by trucking white sand in and putting it over the rust-red clay soil the region has (which would otherwise be mud and cause nearly-indelible stains to beachgoers and their clothing, shoes, and towels).
