LAN Ecuador is an airline based in Guayaquil, Ecuador. It operates scheduled passenger services from Quito and Guayaquil with aircraft leased from LAN Airlines as required. Its main base is José Joaquín de Olmedo International Airport, Guayaquil, with a hub at Mariscal Sucre International Airport, Quito.[1]
History
LAN Ecuador was established in July 2002 and started operations on 28 April 2003. It is owned by Translloyd (55%) and LAN Airlines (45%).[1]
On 24 December 2008, LAN Ecuador received approval to begin domestic operations. It plans to begin these operations by the end of March 2009 with Airbus A320 family aircraft.[2]

LAN Ecuador's fleet consists of the following aircraft (at 26 December 2008):[3]
LAN Airlines annouced that the purchase of 26 Boeing 787's would be separated between LAN Airlines, LAN Perú, LAN Argentina, and LAN Ecuador. The amount to enter the LAN Ecuador fleet is unknown at this time, but it is likely the Boeing 787's will replace the ageing Boeing 767-300's.[4]
