Segment of every broadcast day from 11:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. (on some stations until sign-off), which has been designated by the television broadcast media for the purpose of selling commercial time on the basis of audience size, composition, and demographics. Late-fringe time is charged at a lower rate than prime time or other dayparts.
