Description
Latrodectus corallinus is a species of widow spider native to Argentina. It is approximately 12mm in size, and is primarily black with large, red markings on its abdomen, as well as a red, square-like ring under its abdomen.
Habitats
Latrodectus corallinus, like its American cousins, are found both outdoors as well as in, and is commonly found in agricultural fields.
Habits
Latordectus corallinus, like most species of Latrodectus, are not aggressive. The peak time of activity for Latrodectus corallinus is between the months of December and March (Southern Hemisphere).
Venom/Treatment
The venom of Latrodectus corallinus is neurotoxic, and is accompianied with muscular contractions, pain, and sweating. Bites are treated with antivenom and painkillers.
