After she graduated from the National Music School with an ethnic-musicologist degree, Mexican singer/songwriter Laura Abitia made her debut in front of a major audience with a group called Cuatrova, performing "Sabina" while participating in a national singing contest in 1988. In 1990, the artist composed music for the local TV series El Abuelo y Yo, produced by Pedro Damián. After teaming up with Jorge García Montemayor, Erika Hernández, and Enrique Quezada, Laura Abitia's self-titled album was presented live on December 11, 1997. She later produced the musical Mujeres En Fuga. ~ Drago Bonacich, All Music Guide
