Performing began early in life for Laura, as she invited her parents to their basement for "shows" which consisted of Laura performing songs of the Beach Boys and Elvis. A Mt. Airy, MD native, Bryna first got hooked on country music while listening to country radio during long drives to a Washington, D.C., hospital to visit her brother, who was in a six-month coma following a brain aneurysm. There Bryna encountered for the first time volunteers and celebrities visiting kids on behalf of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. It inspired her later to become a tireless supporter of the foundation and she is now a board member for the Mid-Atlantic Chapter.
Bryna attended Philadelphia's University of the Arts, studying acting, singing, and dancing, and following her senior recital, was selected to appear in the cast of the Broadway-bound musical Rasputin and appeared on the subsequent cast recording. Following graduation, Bryna moved to Nashville, enrolling in music classes at Belmont College and landing an internship at Sony Tree Publishing, later moving to a similar position at Dreamworks Publishing, jobs that gave a keen insight into the behind-the-scenes business of music. Continuing music throughout school and college, Laura realized she'd found her calling. Her love of Blues and Country led Laura to believe that moving to Nashville was the next logical step in her career path, which proved true as she signed with Equity Records. Combining the love of these two genres of music have aided Laura in developing her own unique style and identity.
Bryna's first single, "Make A Wish," was not only a single for her upcoming album, it is also the new song for the Make-A-Wish Foundation which is celebrating its 25th anniversary. The Make-A-Wish Foundation has been close to Laura's heart since her family became involved with the program while Laura was in high school. She has continued her participation through the Nashville chapter and hopes to stay involved with the foundation throughout her music career. She also became extremely active in the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and so it was fitting that her first single after she was signed to Clint Black's Equity Records label was a song she had written for the charity called "Make A Wish." Bryna's debut album, Trying to Be Me, appeared from Equity in 2008. A second single, "Life Is Good", appeared June 2 that same year. Bryna toured in 2007 with Black on his Up Close and Personal Tour. In 2008 Bryna became the voice and national spokesperson for the Air National Guard's branding and recruitment advertising campaign for television and radio. Her single, 'Hometown Heroes', which she co-wrote, is the official campaign song for the Air Guard. Bryna is now touring military bases across the United States in support of the campaign. The single is only on copies of "Trying to Be Me" released after August 19. Bryna is currently working on a new CD project with producers in Los Angeles. She has signed with Innovative Artists in Los Angeles and they are representing her for various television projects. Bryna's image will grace the cover of Southern Beauty magazine in August 2009; she and the magazine are now promoting a national search for America's Hometown Heroes which will culminate with the selection of five winners who will be honored at a special concert event August 10 in Los Angeles at the House of Blues. The event will also introduce new music Laura is currently working on. [1]
